This annotated lecture introduces how to take measurements of the Earth’s climate, uncertainty associated with measurements, how observations have changed over time, challenges in interpretation of climate change. Despite the shortcomings of temperature as a measure of climate, temperature is our most intuitive and longest observation. Therefore, the focus is on surface temperature.

Several segments are planned.
